浅谈气溶胶

记得高尔基的《海燕》中有这样的诗句：“狂风紧紧地抱起一堆巨浪，恶狠狠地扔到峭岩上，把这大块的翡翠摔成尘雾和水沫”。

但接下来会发生什么呢？实际上，这些“尘雾和水沫”将很快蒸发，在空中留下盐的微米级颗粒，形成大气中的海盐气溶胶。据统计，海洋每年以33亿吨的通量向空中撒盐。

咳嗽和喷嚏是人体的“狂风”，也会把大量的唾液、鼻涕等分泌物 “摔成尘雾和水沫”，蒸发后留下飞沫核与其中的病毒，在空中形成气溶胶。当然，和大海相比，人太渺小了。但如果变成了“人海”呢？如果在密闭狭小的空间呢？

我们不妨对飞沫气溶胶做点近距离观察。一个“阿秋”，40000多个“唾沫星子”以每秒50米的速度喷涌而出，它们的典型尺寸在0到200微米之间。大的液滴受空气阻力和地球引力作用很快落到地面，小的液滴则会悬浮在空中，融进无处不在的气溶胶“浓汤”。世界卫生组织把当量直径5微米，作为大颗粒和小颗粒的分割点，也是飞沫传播和空气传播的分界线。

完全蒸发是一个相变。液态的飞沫变成了固态的飞沫核，湿的液滴变成了干的颗粒。这些飞沫核能在空气中悬浮一周并随风飘散，但浓度却和距离的立方成反比，以至于迅速减低到不能致病。

还有一个备受关注的问题，飞沫核中的病毒究竟能够“活”多久？

这可不是一句话能说得清楚。在主流科学界看来，病毒压根就不是生命，它们只是“巨大的有机分子”，“一个蛋白质信封，装着一则坏消息”。因为病毒既没有代谢也不会繁殖，全靠入侵宿主细胞，劫持和篡改宿主的生命资源进行自我组装，因此它们从来没有过“生命的火花”，完全算不上“活”物。

但即便如此，飞沫核中的病毒仍然应该有“死与活”的区别。当病毒的蛋白质衣壳损坏，或其中的核酸序列打乱，就丧失了感染和复制能力。从这个意义上，冠状病毒一般会在离开宿主体内几天后“死掉”，气溶胶里只剩下病毒“遗骸”了。

有文章以电梯里香烟味经久不散为例，来证明飞沫气溶胶的感染力长效不衰，这是不够准确的。香烟烟雾约含4800种物质，是众多气体和气溶胶颗粒物的混合。二手烟、三手烟的气味在房间中甚至能存留数月，主要是香烟残留物的挥发性气体在不断作祟，而不是香烟气溶胶颗粒在继续显灵。

除了飘在空中的飞沫核，那些咳嗽和喷嚏后落在地面上的大粒径飞沫，还有患者的唾液痰迹等，均可“零落成泥碾作尘”，经由风吹和鞋踩升入空中，形成新的气溶胶。患者被褥衣服的抖动，病房马桶冲水时的雾化，都是病毒气溶胶的来源。不可不察也不可不防。

生长于咳唾之际，弥漫于呼吸之间，病毒气溶胶似乎“神龙见首不见尾”，但却完全可以预防。 除了用紫外线和消毒剂杀灭气溶胶中的病毒，提倡在公共场所戴口罩，不仅防止来自气溶胶的病毒，还能阻断形成气溶胶的源头。而经常打开门窗通风，把室内污浊空气吐故纳新，则是预防气溶胶传染的终南捷径。
